Getting to Perth

There is no travel charge on a Perth and Kinross booking and there never will be — this is the point the 100-mile free-travel zone is measured from. In practice it also means we can get to you early without it costing anybody anything, which matters more than it sounds: an unhurried setup and a proper sound check is the difference between a band that starts well and a band that spends the first two dances fixing things.

Function suites built for conferences and weddings alike — level access, a stage or a clear corner, and usually a fitted sound limiter. Straightforward rooms, and we know most of the layouts.

Estate and country houses

Up the glens and along Strathearn and Strathtay. Beautiful rooms, often listed, which means no fixings in the walls and lighting that has to stand on its own feet rather than clamp to anything.

Village and community halls

Highland Perthshire is full of them and several have proper sprung floors, which is the best surface a ceilidh can ask for. Heating and power are the things worth checking, not the dancing.

What to sort before the night

The rural half of the county is the half worth planning. Single-track access up the glens means a van, not a lorry, and a turning point at the end of it. Anything in a converted steading or a marquee on an estate is likely running off a generator — fine, but tell us in advance so we bring the right distribution and do not discover it at six o'clock. Mobile signal north and west of Dunkeld is patchy enough that we will agree arrangements before the day rather than expect to phone anybody from the car park.

When Perth books up

Perthshire's summer is busy on its own account — Highland games run through July and August, and race days at Scone pull hotel availability around with them. The genuinely scarce dates are the festive ones: Hogmanay and the Saturdays either side of it go a long way out, and Burns Night at the end of January is the single most requested weeknight in the year.

Questions we get asked about Perth

Do you charge travel anywhere in Perth and Kinross?

No. The whole county sits at the centre of the free-travel zone, so the quote you get is the price of the package and nothing else.

Can you play a marquee on an estate up the glens?

Yes, and it is a large part of what we do here. The two things to confirm early are power — generator or mains — and how far the kit has to be carried from where the van can stop.

How early can you set up for a Perth wedding?

Earlier than most places, because we are not travelling. If your room is free in the afternoon we would rather be in, sound-checked and out of the way well before your guests arrive.
