Freshers' ceilidhs, society balls, graduation nights, hall socials and school proms. A ceilidh is the one format where a room full of people who have never met end up dancing together within ten minutes, which is exactly why student committees keep booking them.
Every dance is called from the floor before the music starts. That matters more at a student event than anywhere else, because the room is usually a mix of Scottish students who grew up doing this and international students who have never seen it.
The ceilidh does the mixing, the DJ set keeps the night going. Same kit, no changeover, no dead half-hour while a second supplier sets up.
The one-man ceilidh band and DJ is the usual pick for society nights and hall socials — the full experience at the lowest price point. Everything is published up front, so you can put a real number in a budget request.
Union buildings often have sound limiters and a firm curfew. Tell us which venue and we will bring the line-up that works with it rather than fighting it.
Committees change over, so we keep it simple: check the date, get a written quote you can take to your treasurer, and Garry confirms everything by phone. If the person organising it hands over halfway through, that is fine — just tell us who has taken it on.
